Mud Pies and Art Parade!

On July 1st we applied to the art parade.

Here's our proposal:

Dear Deitch,

We have attached a brief description of our project, The World's Largest Mud Pie Made from Street Trash, and a very simple crayon rendering of what the mud pie might look like. The project is pretty straight forward, but please call us if you have any questions. We can also furbish you with an artist statement if you would like.

Cheers,

Catie and Meg

The Proposal:Mud Pie
Contacts: Meg Duguid and Catie Olson
Number of participants: 2
Materials: Dirt, a giant pie tin, a doublewide red wagon, and street trash

Project Description:
Pie is our current medium, and word play is our structure. Our content is vast, touching on humor, gender identity, and the theater of the absurd.

For the Art Parade we would like to make the world’s largest mud pie from the trash everyone else leaves behind. Essentially, we want to be last in the lineup and act as the cleanup women following the parade--one of us pulling a doublewide red wagon with a giant pie tin on top and one of us carrying a broom and dust pan. As we go along the parade route, we will be sweeping up the trash that came from projects before us and mixing it into the world’s largest mud pie that is to be weighed and measured at the end of the parade route by a pie official. If accepted for the parade, we will apply to the Guinness Book of World Records for the title of World’s Largest Mud Pie Created from Street Trash.

Special Needs at the beginning and end of Parade:
We would like access to water at the beginning of the parade to turn our dirt into mud, and we need place to dispose the World’s Largest Mud Pie Created from Street Trash at the end of the parade.
